Vault
Vilnius
2014
If there's an object, like an apartment, it always has an interior, a small inner stone of the World. The foundation of the apartment is always more tangible and recognizable, earthly and perceptibly attractive. Bodies are attracted, everything is clearer here. But what attracts dreaming? Perhaps the clouds float more freely through the vault? Yes, seemingly there's more to the attic... it attracts, it bewitches...
Softness, dissolution, and a plethora of images have become the axis of expression for the interior of the apartment, around which action (function) and all other desires revolve.
Beginning of design: Dream apartment, which is not yet in the light of the Sun, but is already visible in our inner light... Recognizing the Baltic nature today and seeking expression for an urban apartment, a form called Vault was created. Balticness here is more important than new, clean colors - it's a painterly state. Archetypically, one can find a house emblem in the apartment, which additionally gives a sense of home/homes to the vault.
The basis of this Vault is admiration for true illumination, a sense of nest, and a visible field spreading into infinity... Being in Žvėrynas, by the bends of the Neris, is recognized here from the smoke rising from the river and the mists. Providing a heavenly, watery mood, the interior is adorned with tiles of Prussian blues and sky blues, as well as shades of gray-blue furniture accents. The interior walls of the house are naturally white, just slightly warm white. Each time of day is revealed most brightly on them. The floors - pine, whitened differently in each room, provide the opportunity for enjoyment of a subtly diffusing color. The newly appeared warmly inviting space most vividly reveals people, their most important things, and changing events. One of the first items to arrive in this house was paintings.
... as one friend beautifully described the Vault: "there is no concept there... only heart".
